James Hugh Powell, 1951 Corks and Curls
James Hugh Powell (October 27, 1929 in Roanoake, Virginia – June 19, 2014),[1] of Louisville, Kentucky, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1948-1949, 1949-1950, and 1950-1951 seasons. Graduating in 1951 with a BS in Chemistry, he was also a member of Sigma Nu and Lambda Pi.[2]
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1951. He was an insurance salesman until 1975, then entered a second career in the ministry. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a doctorate in divinity, and served as a pastor in several churches in Kentucky and Texas.[1]
