James Stuart Doubleday[1] (February 13, 1870 in New York, New York – November 14, 1918)[2][3] was the director of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1891-1892 season. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, he graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Virginia in June 1893.[4] While at Virginia, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta[5] and had several poems and one short story published in the Virginia University Magazine.[1]

He passed his medical board exams in New York State with a 90 in April 1895.[6] He died in 1918 of pneumonia.[3]
