The O.W.L. was a semi-secret society at the University of Virginia. Founded in 1887,[1] its membership was drawn from the editors-in-chief of University publications.[2]
The O.W.L. was active through at least the first part of the 20th century; it is noted as having supported the Yellow Journal after the faculty objected to the anonymous paper.[3]
